Recycled shelf unit

Some time back I collected these slated wood things from an amazing old orchid estate with the intention of doing just this, turning them into shelves.
It turns out they have quite a history...I know because I saw a photo of them recently in a notorious situation - the details of which I'm not sure I'm aloud to share.
I love that, when objects have history that you know about, and you think of them here and now, and then and now and it starts to play with your everyday notion of time and space.

Like when I visited Canterbury cathedral right after reading Canterbury Tales. I hugged a corner of the building and had a very hard time imagining that Chaucer or anyone else from way back then, could have touched the same stone. Like somehow, if you think about it enough, that physical spot could be...well it is a space/time bridge. I'll just stop right there.

But hey - the shelves are cool aren't they?

  1. The shelves are beautiful. But now I wonder about their history...
